Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is a unique pulsing wetland. Тhe delta covers between 6 and 15 000 square kilometers of Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana and owes its existence to the Okavango (Kavango) River which flows from Angola, across the Caprivi Strip in Namibia and into the Kalahari Desert. Located in the north-west of Botswana, the Delta is made up of floodplains, waterways, forested islands and lily-dotted lagoons. A true wilderness of green and blue fanning out of into the arid sands of the Kalahari Desert. Тhe Okavango Delta is an oasis in an otherwise dry environment and is known for its superb wildlife, with large populations of mammals and excellent birding particularly in the breeding season.
